Explanation

Read the traditional commentary

Krishna now sketches the living texture of the great souls' devotion. It is satatam — continual, woven into the whole of life rather than confined to a ritual hour. They glorify the Divine (kirtana), striving with effort (yatanta), holding firm to their resolves (dridha-vrata), and bowing in humble reverence (namasyanta). Devotion here engages the whole person: voice, will, and body.

The phrase nitya-yukta — ever united — reveals the goal of all this practice: an unbroken inner connection to the Divine. These are not occasional acts of piety but a way of being. The spiritual life is presented not as passive feeling but as a steady, joyful discipline.

Constancy is its hallmark; small acts of remembrance, repeated faithfully, gradually steady the heart until communion becomes the natural ground of one's existence.
