Explanation

Krishna teaches compassionate leadership. A wise person should not mock, shame, or abruptly disturb those who are not ready for deeper truth. Instead, they should model disciplined action and guide people step by step. This is extremely important for spiritual apps, coaches, teachers, managers, and parents. Good teaching meets people where they are and gently elevates them.

Read the traditional commentary

Krishna adds a teaching of wise compassion. The enlightened should not create buddhi-bheda — a disturbance of understanding — in those who are still attached to action and not yet ready for the higher truth of detachment. Rather, the wise should encourage others in their work and, crucially, lead by personally performing duty with steadfast devotion.

This is a counsel against premature or careless preaching. To tell people who find meaning and discipline in attached action that 'nothing matters' can confuse and harm them, loosening their grip on duty without offering anything stable in its place. The wise teach gently, meeting people where they are, and demonstrate the higher path through their own example rather than unsettling words.

True spiritual leadership uplifts gradually, never destabilizes. The best teaching is often a life well lived, drawing others upward by quiet example.
