Chapter 8, Verse 27
नैते सृती पार्थ जानन्योगी मुह्यति कश्चन | तस्मात्सर्वेषु कालेषु योगयुक्तो भवार्जुन ||८-२७||
naite sṛtī pārtha jānanyogī muhyati kaścana . tasmātsarveṣu kāleṣu yogayukto bhavārjuna ||8-27||
Meaning
8.27 Knowing these paths, O Arjuna, no Yogi is deluded; therefore at all times be steadfast in Yoga.
Word-by-Word Meaning
Explanation & Commentary
Krishna draws the practical conclusion from the teaching of the two paths. The yogi who truly knows these paths is never deluded (na muhyati). Understanding clearly where the bright and dark ways lead, he is no longer swayed by confusion or by the lure of temporary rewards. Therefore, Krishna urges, 'at all times be steadfast in yoga' (sarveshu kaleshu yoga-yukto bhava).
The purpose of all the preceding cosmic and metaphysical instruction now becomes plain: it is meant to produce steadiness, not mere knowledge for its own sake. To know the two paths is to be freed from the confusion that mistakes the impermanent for the eternal. And the right response to such clarity is constancy — to remain anchored in practice through every season of life. Krishna does not ask for occasional devotion but for unbroken steadfastness 'at all times.' Understanding ripens into discipline, and discipline carries the soul toward the path of light.
💡 Key Takeaway
True understanding ends confusion and bears fruit in steady, unbroken practice maintained through every season of life.
