Chapter 7, Verse 30

साधिभूताधिदैवं मां साधियज्ञं च ये विदुः | प्रयाणकालेऽपि च मां ते विदुर्युक्तचेतसः ||७-३०||

sādhibhūtādhidaivaṃ māṃ sādhiyajñaṃ ca ye viduḥ . prayāṇakāle.api ca māṃ te viduryuktacetasaḥ ||7-30||

7.30 Those who know Me with the Adhibhuta (pertaining to the elements), Adhidaiva (pertaining to the gods) and the Adhiyajna (pertaining to the sacrifice) know Me even at the time of death, steadfast in mind.

Explanation & Commentary

The chapter closes by naming three dimensions through which the Divine pervades existence: adhibhuta, the realm of changing elements; adhidaiva, the realm of cosmic powers; and adhiyajna, the principle of sacrifice within all action. Those who truly know Him in all these aspects, with steadfast mind (yukta-chetasah), know Him 'even at the time of death' — the supreme test, when the mind is most prone to scatter.

To remember God at life's final moment is the fruit of remembering Him throughout life. These technical terms, which Krishna will unfold in the next chapter, point to a single truth: the Divine is the inner reality of matter, of the gods, and of every sacred act. 7.2 I shall declare to thee in full this knowledge combined with realisation, after knowing which nothing more here remains to be known.

तेषां ज्ञानी नित्ययुक्त एकभक्तिर्विशिष्यते | प्रियो हि ज्ञानिनोऽत्यर्थमहं स च मम प्रियः ||७-१७||

teṣāṃ jñānī nityayukta ekabhaktirviśiṣyate . priyo hi jñānino.atyarthamahaṃ sa ca mama priyaḥ ||7-17||

7.17 Of them the wise, ever steadfast and devoted to the One, excels (is the best); for I am exceedingly dear to the wise and he is dear to Me.
