Word-by-Word Meaning
Explanation & Commentary
The seventh chapter opens a new movement in the Gita. Having taught Arjuna the disciplines of action and meditation, Krishna now turns to the supreme subject — knowledge of His own being. He lays out three conditions that make this knowledge possible: a mind that clings to Him (asakta-manah), the active practice of yoga (yogam yuñjan), and complete refuge in Him (mad-ashrayah).
Notice the order. First the heart is anchored, then the discipline is applied, and only then is surrender complete. Krishna promises that one who fulfils these will know Him asamshayam — beyond all doubt — and samagram — in His fullness, not in fragments. This is not abstract theology but an invitation: turn the attention inward and upward, and certainty replaces speculation.
💡 Key Takeaway
Knowledge of the Divine ripens not from argument but from a mind anchored in Him, steady practice, and wholehearted refuge.
