Word-by-Word Meaning
Explanation & Commentary
Krishna distinguishes two faculties that must work together: jñana, conceptual knowing of the truth, and vijñana, the direct realisation of it in one's own experience. Information alone does not transform; the Gita insists that wisdom be lived, not merely understood. To carry a map is not to have walked the road.
The promise here is striking — once this integrated knowing is attained, 'nothing more remains to be known.' It is the kind of understanding that fulfils every other inquiry, because it touches the root from which all things arise. Krishna is not boasting; He is describing the nature of self-knowledge of the Absolute. When the source is known, the endless craving to acquire more facts quietly comes to rest.
💡 Key Takeaway
Seek the knowing that is also realised in experience, for that alone leaves nothing essential still to be sought.
