Explanation & Commentary
Among all the sacrifices just described, Krishna now declares the highest: jñāna-yajña — the sacrifice of knowledge — is superior to any material offering (dravyamaya-yajña). Gifts of wealth, ritual substances, and outward observances are valuable, but the offering of wisdom surpasses them all, for it directly transforms the offerer.
The reason follows in a luminous phrase: sarvaṃ karma akhilaṃ jñāne parisamāpyate — 'all action, in its entirety, culminates in knowledge.' Every act of sacrifice, discipline, and effort ultimately exists to ripen into wisdom. Action is the means; knowledge is the end. This verse marks a turning point in the chapter, lifting the discussion from the many forms of work toward their shared destination — the realization that liberates. All paths of doing converge in the path of knowing.
💡 Key Takeaway
All action ultimately ripens into knowledge; the offering of wisdom surpasses every material sacrifice.
