Word-by-Word Meaning
Explanation & Commentary
Having named so many splendours, Krishna draws the catalogue toward its close with the same humbling truth He gave at the start: 'There is no end (na anto asti) to My divine glories.' What He has spoken is merely uddeśataḥ — by way of illustration, a few representative examples.
This frames the entire list rightly. The thirty-odd glories named are not the boundaries of the Divine but samples meant to awaken the seeing eye. Like a teacher pointing out a handful of stars to help a child begin to read the night sky, Krishna offers enough to train the mind's vision, then reminds us that the sky itself is endless. The proper response is not to memorize the list but to learn the art of recognizing the Divine — an art that, once acquired, finds Him in everything beyond the list as well.
💡 Key Takeaway
The named glories are only samples meant to train the eye to recognize the Divine in everything beyond them.
