Chapter 10, Verse 14

सर्वमेतदृतं मन्ये यन्मां वदसि केशव | न हि ते भगवन्व्यक्तिं विदुर्देवा न दानवाः ||१०-१४||

sarvametadṛtaṃ manye yanmāṃ vadasi keśava . na hi te bhagavanvyaktiṃ vidurdevā na dānavāḥ ||10-14||

Meaning

10.14 I believe all this that Thou sayest to me to be true, O Krishna; verily, O blessed Lord! neither the gods nor the demons know Thy manifestation (origin).

Explanation & Commentary

Arjuna declares his complete acceptance: 'All this that You tell me, I hold to be true' (sarvam etad ṛtaṃ manye). The word ṛtam means not just 'true' but cosmically right, in harmony with the eternal order. His is not blind belief but a settled inner certainty.

Yet he immediately acknowledges the mystery — echoing Krishna's own words in verse 2 — that neither gods (devāḥ) nor demons (dānavāḥ) can comprehend the Lord's origin. This is the mature posture of faith: it affirms the truth wholeheartedly while bowing before what remains beyond comprehension. To trust fully and yet stand humbled before the infinite is no contradiction; it is the very signature of genuine devotion.

10.2 Neither the hosts of the gods nor the great sages know My origin; for in every way I am the source of all the gods and the great sages.

एतां विभूतिं योगं च मम यो वेत्ति तत्त्वतः | सोऽविकम्पेन योगेन युज्यते नात्र संशयः ||१०-७||

etāṃ vibhūtiṃ yogaṃ ca mama yo vetti tattvataḥ . so.avikampena yogena yujyate nātra saṃśayaḥ ||10-7||

10.7 He who in truth knows these manifold manifestations of My Being and (this) Yoga-power of Mine becomes established in the unshakable Yoga; there is no doubt about it.
