Chapter 8, Verse 14

अनन्यचेताः सततं यो मां स्मरति नित्यशः | तस्याहं सुलभः पार्थ नित्ययुक्तस्य योगिनः ||८-१४||

ananyacetāḥ satataṃ yo māṃ smarati nityaśaḥ . tasyāhaṃ sulabhaḥ pārtha nityayuktasya yoginaḥ ||8-14||

Meaning

8.14 I am easily attainable by that ever-steadfast Yogi who constantly and daily remembers Me (for a long time), not thinking of anything else (with a single mind or one-pointed mind), O Partha (Arjuna).

Explanation & Commentary

After the demanding descriptions of yogic technique, Krishna offers a tender reassurance. To the devotee whose mind dwells on no other (ananya-chetah) and who remembers him constantly, day after day, the Lord declares: tasya aham sulabhah — 'I am easily attained.'

This is a turning point in the chapter. The elaborate practices of breath and concentration may seem reserved for advanced yogis, but here Krishna reveals the simplest and most accessible path: undivided, loving, constant remembrance. The word sulabhah — 'easy to obtain' — is striking from the lips of the One whom the Vedas call hard to know. To the heart that loves him single-mindedly, the supreme Lord makes himself easy to reach. The whole burden shifts from technical mastery to faithful devotion. What matters most is not the difficulty of the method but the constancy of the love that animates it.

adhibhūtaṃ kṣaro bhāvaḥ puruṣaścādhidaivatam . adhiyajño.ahamevātra dehe dehabhṛtāṃ vara ||8-4||

8.4 Adhibhuta (knowledge of the elements) pertains to My perishable Nature and the Purusha or the Soul is the Adhidaiva; I alone am the Adhiyajna here in this body, O best among the embodied (men).

अन्तकाले च मामेव स्मरन्मुक्त्वा कलेवरम् | यः प्रयाति स मद्भावं याति नास्त्यत्र संशयः ||८-५||

antakāle ca māmeva smaranmuktvā kalevaram . yaḥ prayāti sa madbhāvaṃ yāti nāstyatra saṃśayaḥ ||8-5||

8.5 And whosoever, leaving the body, goes forth remembering Me alone, at the time of death, he attains My Being: there is no doubt about this.
