Chapter 13, Verse 32
अनादित्वान्निर्गुणत्वात्परमात्मायमव्ययः | शरीरस्थोऽपि कौन्तेय न करोति न लिप्यते ||१३-३२||
anāditvānnirguṇatvātparamātmāyamavyayaḥ . śarīrastho.api kaunteya na karoti na lipyate ||13-32||

13.32 Being without beginning and being devoid of (any) alities, the Supreme Self, imperishable, though dwelling in the body, O Arjuna, neither acts nor is tainted.

Explanation & Commentary
Krishna affirms the changeless purity of the Supreme Self. Because it is beginningless (anadi) and beyond the three gunas (nirguna), the imperishable Paramatma, even while dwelling within the body, neither acts nor is stained by anything the body does. It is present in the field yet entirely uncontaminated by the field's activity, joys, or sorrows.
The key insight is that proximity does not mean entanglement. The Self resides in the body the way a king might dwell in a palace without becoming the bricks, or the way sunlight fills a room without being soiled by its dust. We mistakenly assume that because consciousness is intimately present to all our experiences, it must be affected by them — but it remains forever pristine. This understanding is the ground of inner freedom: whatever the body and mind undergo, our deepest Self is never harmed, never diminished, never tainted. We carry within us an untouchable purity.

उपद्रष्टानुमन्ता च भर्ता भोक्ता महेश्वरः | परमात्मेति चाप्युक्तो देहेऽस्मिन्पुरुषः परः ||१३-२३||
upadraṣṭānumantā ca bhartā bhoktā maheśvaraḥ . paramātmeti cāpyukto dehe.asminpuruṣaḥ paraḥ ||13-23||
