Word-by-Word Meaning
Explanation & Commentary
Krishna describes the inner and outer life of the true devotee. Inwardly, their consciousness (citta) and very life-force (prāṇa) are absorbed in Him — mac-cittā, mad-gata-prāṇāḥ. Outwardly, they live in joyful community, 'enlightening one another' (bodhayantaḥ parasparam) and continually speaking of the Divine.
The verse ends with two beautiful verbs: tuṣyanti — they are content — and ramanti — they delight. Devotion, far from being grim or austere, is here portrayed as a source of deep satisfaction and even play. Sharing the spiritual journey with kindred souls multiplies the joy. This is the picture of fellowship (satsanga): hearts turned to the same Source, lifting one another and finding in that shared remembrance a happiness the world cannot give.
💡 Key Takeaway
Sharing your spiritual life with kindred souls turns devotion into deep, lasting joy.
