Chapter 4, Verse 11

ये यथा मां प्रपद्यन्ते तांस्तथैव भजाम्यहम् | मम वर्त्मानुवर्तन्ते मनुष्याः पार्थ सर्वशः ||४-११||

ye yathā māṃ prapadyante tāṃstathaiva bhajāmyaham . mama vartmānuvartante manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ ||4-11||

Meaning

4.11 In whatever way men approach Me even so do I reward them; My path do men tread in all ways, O Arjuna.

Explanation & Commentary

Krishna expresses the boundless impartiality of the divine. However a person approaches Him — through devotion, knowledge, work, or any sincere seeking — He reciprocates in exactly that measure. The divine does not impose a single rigid road but meets each soul according to its own approach. As we turn toward the divine, so the divine turns toward us.

The closing words — mama vartma anuvartante manuṣyāḥ sarvaśaḥ — affirm that all paths, in the end, are the Lord's path. This is the Gita's spirit of generous inclusiveness: no sincere seeker is rejected, and every honest way of approaching truth is honored. Yet there is a quiet law of reciprocity here too — what we receive reflects what we offer. The relationship with the divine is a living mirror of our own sincerity.

4.25 Some Yogies perform sacrifice to the gods alone; while others (who have realised the Self) offer the self as sacrifice by the Self in the fire of Brahman alone.

अपरे नियताहाराः प्राणान्प्राणेषु जुह्वति | सर्वेऽप्येते यज्ञविदो यज्ञक्षपितकल्मषाः ||४-३०||

apare niyatāhārāḥ prāṇānprāṇeṣu juhvati . sarve.apyete yajñavido yajñakṣapitakalmaṣāḥ ||4-30||

4.30 Others who regulate their diet offer life-breaths in life-breaths. All these are knowers of sacrifice, whose sins are destroyed by sacrifice.
